Until the Dawn Comes by Sr. Joseph Andrew O.P.

Blessed Feast of the Transfiguration….the Christocentric Mystery which John Paul the Great presented to the Church (in Vita Consecrata) as an ‘icon’ of Religious Life….the Promise of the Beatific Vision awaiting all who love God!!  How appropriate it is that our Heavenly Father called our dear Fr. Dick Tomasek, SJ Home at 5:15p.m. on this feastday one year ago.  We, who still stand at the Mountain, ‘saw’ him climbing it alongside Jesus through all his immense sufferings and we waited…but he didn’t come back down as did the apostles.  Instead, Christ simply took him Home to praise the Father and pray for all of us.  What a Gift to have our Heavenly friends!!  And so, on this feastday of yet another saint, let us hold one another’s intentions most specially in united prayer.

I know that each of us carry many loved ones as ‘intentions’ in our hearts.  Today’s Feastday reminds us that ‘things aren’t always as they look’ – that, as our spiritual vision sharpens, we too come to see a fuller Glory of our Loving Father whose Providence is gently working to guide us all Home!  Thank you for YOUR unique goodness – from your face, too, I see the Radiance of Christ!

Gratefully always in Mother Mary and our saints,

Sister Joseph Andrew, OP
