There’s Power in the Blood

  • Good Pope John XXIII wrote in 1960: “The world can still set itself right and always will be able to because the voice and Blood of Christ cry out for pity and mercy…Devotion to the Precious Blood is the devotion of our time…it is the devotion for all souls and for the whole world.”
  • St. Mary Magdalen de Pazzi said, “Every time a creature offers up the Blood by which he is redeemed, he offers a gift of infinite worth..offering Heaven to Heaven.”
  • St. Ignatius of Antioch to the Trallians 8: “Let gentleness be your weapon…take a firm grip on your faith, which is the very flesh of the Lord, and your love, which is the Life-blood of the Lord.”
  • St. Catherine of Siena said, “Take caution to see priests only as the dispensers of the Blood of the humble, Immaculate Lamb and overlook the faults you may see in them. A priest is a man and, therefore, fallible and capable of making mistakes but this does not prevent him from being the Anointed of the Lord, marked forever with the indelible sign and having the power to consecrate the Body and Blood of Christ…”
  • St. John Vianney said, “My children, mark this well, whenever I obtained a grace I obtained it by asking Blessed Virgin Mary to offer the Blood of her Son to the Father.” Say this: “Immaculate Heart of Mary, do thou offer to the Eternal Father the Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ for the conversion of sinners, especially for _____”
  • St. Peter said, ” You are ransomed…not with perishable things like silver or gold but with the precious Blood of Christ.” (1 Pt. 1:18-19)
  • St. Gaspar del Buffalo said, “Become attached in fervor to the devotion to the divine Blood which softens every heart and do not fail to turn frequently to the most holy Mary Immaculate under whose protection it is most helpful to remain.”
  • Julian of Norwich said, ” Your Blood, dear Lord, is not only precious but plentiful, covering every wound in the hearts of your creatures.”
  • St. Albert the Great said, “I adore You, O precious Blood of Jesus, flower of creation, fruit of virginity, ineffable instrument of the Holy Spirit and I rejoice at the thought that You came from the drop of virginal blood on which eternal Love impressed its movement; You were assumed by the Word and deified in His person. I am overcome with emotion when I think of Your passing from the Blessed Virgin’s heart into the heart of the Word and, being vivified by the breath of the Divinity, becoming adorable because You became the Blood of God.”
