The Culture vs. The Church

The Culture says: “The Catholic Church is archaic.”
The Catholic Church says: “Yes! Thank God we are because we were founded over 2,000 years ago by Jesus Christ.”

The Culture says: “The Catholic Church is dead.”
The Catholic Church says: “The Church is always alive and young because the Holy Spirit, who is the Fountain of Youth, lives and breathes in the Church Jesus started.”

The Culture says: “The Church must conform to the new way and new laws or it will be exterminated.”
The Catholic Church says: “That’s not possible because Jesus said the Gates of Hell will not prevail against His Church.”

The Culture says: “The government knows best. If the Church disobeys the laws, the Church will be jailed and persecuted.”
The Catholic Church says: “History proves that the Blood of the Martyrs is the Seed of the Church.”

The Culture says: “The Catholic Church hates people because they won’t allow everyone choose their own lifestyle.”
The Catholic Church says: “I am a Mother, Holy Mother Church. What kind of mother would allow her children to hurt themselves?”

The Culture says: “There is no objective truth.”
The Catholic Church says: “That is a statement of objective truth so you are contradicting yourself. Jesus said of Himself, ‘I am the Truth’ so, yes, there is objective truth.”

The Culture says: “The Catholic Church is only for rich people.”
The Catholic Church says: “In August 258, the deacon Lawrence was told by the Roman government to round up all the wealth of the Church so the emperor could take it. In reply, Lawrence returned with the poor who were believers and said that, ‘This is the wealth of the Church.’ The Church hasn’t changed that opinion during the last 2,ooo years.”

The Culture says: “It is better to be spiritual without being religious.”
The Catholic Church says: “Religion equals a Relationship with God. When we fall in love with God, we want very much to belong to the Religion that He started and receive the Sacraments in which He gives Himself to us!”
