Before his abdication last month, Benedict told us plainly that “The time of trial is here.” He also said, “(During Lent) the Church, which is mother and teacher, calls all Her members to be renewed in spirit and to re-orientate closely to God, denying the pride and selfishness in order to live in love. In this Year of Faith, Lent is a favorable time to rediscover the faith in God as the basis of our life…This always involves a battle, a spiritual battle, because evil is naturally opposed to our sanctification and seeks to make us deviate from the way of God.”
During this time of InterRegnum, most of the media has reminded me of the crowd that surrounded Jesus during His agony. It is important that those who truly love Jesus and Jesus present in His Church stand next to Him on the Cross. If we stay there, and not join the cacophony of the crowd, we will necessarily be close to His Mother and ours and will, therefore, be safe and be helpful.
